Ditch Pickle artwork

About this design

Ditch pickle

Bass-fishing slang for a largemouth. The tone is affectionate and a little dismissive at once — you call it a ditch pickle when the fish was good but you are not going to make a speech about it.

Where it fits
Bass water — canals, culverts, farm ponds, anywhere unglamorous

The blank, not the print

Built to be worn out

detail washed texture

Washed before it reaches you

Garment-washed after making up, so it arrives already soft. No two pieces take the wash identically.

detail collar

Ribbed collar

A ribbed neck and double-needle hems on a heavier cloth — 230gsm against the classic's 180.

detail fold

Heavier in the hand

Half again the weight of the classic tee. It hangs rather than drapes, and it holds a boxier shape.

Fabric & fit

230 gsm (6.8 oz/yd²), 100% cotton, garment-washed. Unisex cut — relaxed, a little boxier and heavier than the classic. If you know your classic size, take one size down.

  • Garment-washed after making up, so it arrives already softened
  • Mottled, uneven surface — no two pieces take the wash identically
  • Ribbed collar
  • Double-needle hems

Heavier and softer than the classic, with a broken-in, faded surface. The print reads against a mottled ground, so the same drawing looks older here than on the classic.

Every number is the garment, in inches — not your body. Chest is the full circumference: the tee laid flat, measured across and doubled. This blank is cut much wider and slightly shorter than the classic. Washed — S to 3XL.

A T-shirt laid flat, showing where each of the four measurements is taken 1 2 3 4

Easiest way: copy a tee you already like. Lay it flat, smooth out the wrinkles, and take these four with a tape or a ruler.

  1. Chest — straight across, an inch below the armhole seam, then double it.
  2. Length — from the high point of the shoulder, beside the collar, straight down to the hem.
  3. Shoulder — seam to seam, across the top.
  4. Sleeve — from the shoulder seam down the outside edge to the sleeve hem.

Then pick the row closest to those numbers — chest first, it decides the fit. Nothing to copy? Measure around the fullest part of your chest, tape level and not pulled tight, and add room on top: we’d add about 4″ for the fit it is cut for, 2″ if you like it close, 6″ if you like it loose.

Moving between the two fabrics?

They are not cut the same. The washed tee runs much wider and about an inch shorter — a washed S has a bigger chest than a classic M. If you know your classic size, take one size down here.

Care
Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colours. Tumble dry low or hang. Do not iron directly on the print. No bleach, no dry cleaning.

Help & exchanges

A fault in the print, the wrong item, or a size that did not work out — email hello@waderidge.com with your order number and a photo. A person reads it and comes back to you.

Every piece is printed for one order, so we handle these case by case rather than through an automated returns portal.

Same print, two fabrics

Classic or washed?

Every design comes on both. Same drawing — the difference is what the cloth does to it.

Questions we actually get

Will the print crack or peel?

Both blanks are printed DTF — the design is transferred as its own thin layer of ink and adhesive, then heat-pressed into the cotton. Wash cold, inside out, and skip the tumble dryer and it will outlast the shirt getting stretched out of shape. We do not quote a wash count, because the honest answer depends on how you wash it.

Which size should I order?

Measure a shirt you already like across the chest, lay it flat, and match that number on the chart — the chart lists the garment, not your body. The classic and the washed tee are cut differently enough that a size that fits in one may not fit in the other, so check the chart for the fabric you are buying.

Will it fade after a season on the water?

Sun and salt are hard on any print. Wash cold and inside out, hang it in the shade rather than the dryer, and rinse salt out the same day — the ink layer holds up far better than the shirt's shape does.

Can I wear it fishing, or is it a going-out shirt?

It is a cotton tee, so it is a fishing shirt in the way a cotton tee is: comfortable, not technical. It will not wick, and it will not dry fast on a cold morning. If you need UPF and quick-dry, buy a technical shirt and save this one for the drive home.
